A CLYDEBANK man has been jailed for six months for stealing a bicycle.
James McGlashan, 35, of Crown Avenue, appeared in court on Friday to be sentenced for stealing the bike from Sylvania Way South on April 20, 2016.
The court heard that McGlashan had failed to attend appointments with West Dunbartonshire Council’s social work department to enable a background report to be prepared.
And McGlashan’s solicitor, Roddy Boag, said his client himself believed that a spell behind bars would be the most suitable sentence.
Mr Boag told Dumbarton Sheriff Court: “He’s not of the view that he could comply with a community-based disposal.
"He feels he would be setting himself up to fail.
"Taking into account the view of the accused that no community-based disposal would be appropriate I don’t think there’s anything further for me to say.”
Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told McGlashan: “You seem to be taking a realistic view of your situation.”
