A CLYDEBANK theatre group is tumbling out of bed and pouring themselves a cup of ambition with their rendition of a hit comedy musical.

The Mummers Theatre Group are back in Clydebank Town Hall with a fast paced production of 9 to 5, based on the hit 1980 film which starred Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

The show follows the struggles of Violet, Judy and Doralee as they try to win respect and equality from their sexist boss, Franklin Hart, with music and lyrics by the Nashville Hall of Fame artist.

The cast have been working hard to take it from the page to the stage and are greatly looking forward to entertaining packed audiences from May 10 to 13.

The three leading ladies, Carrie-Jane Connor, Lindsay Miller and Joanne McLaughlin, have had a ball bringing their characters to life but admit that following in the footsteps of acting icons is daunting.

Joanne said: “Knowing that you are being compared to Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton is a scary prospect but we are up for the challenge.

“We don’t scare easily, as audiences are about to find out.”

The club is determined to transport the audiences back to a time when big hair was in, shoulder pads were a must have and leg warmers weren’t just for keeping warm.

Tickets available from club members, Roma in Clyde Shopping Centre or by phoning 07487 275057.
