A KILBOWIE mum has told of her terror as a dangerous driver crashed into her car and drove off as she took her toddler to an autism support group.

Aimee Harkness Logan and her three-year-old son, Aidan, were reduced to tears as a man in a white Mini Cooper cut her off at Bellsmyre roundabout on Station Road as she drove towards Lomondgate roundabout to take the toddler to his Renton group.

The reckless driver ripped off her passenger side wing mirror and caused £300 worth of damage to her black Vauxhall Astra before speeding off, leaving Aimee, Aidan and her six-month-old baby Dylan-Andrew terrified – so terrified she was forced to ask her partner to travel by train to drive the trio back to their home.

Aimee said: “I was stuck [in the middle of the roundabout], I couldn’t actually see what was beside me.

“My eldest son was really distressed as the car jolted and the bang – it really upset him.”

She added: “I was balling my eyes out and so was my son. I was driving [to the support group] upset, I was shaking the whole way because I thought “what if someone hits me” it’s that easy but I wanted to get back on my feet because we stay in Kilbowie and have to travel through here quite often.

“It could’ve been so much worse if he was going faster or pushed me to the side, there could’ve been a lorry coming. That was all I could think about.”

Aimee was in the roundabout’s “ahead only” lane, while the other driver was in the “left only” lane before he cut her off by attempting to travel straight ahead.

He beeped his horn at Aimee before she shouted to inform him he was in the wrong lane.

When Aimee pulled in to the centre of the roundabout, he sped off – leaving Aimee to assume he had realised he was in the wrong and didn’t want to foot the bill.

The 23-year-old added: “I don’t care that he’s hit me it’s the fact he’s drove off and was completely cowardly with it – that’s a really cowardly action.

“I’ve got a ‘baby on board’ sticker in the back window so he seen there were kids in the car and he didn’t stop to see if the kids were alright.”

The incident occurred around 6.50pm on Thursday, April 20, and police are urging witnesses to come forward.

Inspector John Mullen, of Dumbarton police, said: “The incident was reported to police at 7.08pm on April 20.

“The female was within the car along with her two children driving north on Station Road in Renton when a white-style Mini appeared to collide with her causing damage to both cars.

“If any members of the public see a vehicle matching that description with damage to the front or side please contact Dumbarton police.”

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact police on 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers, where anonymity can be maintained, on 0800 555 111.
