FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze at a Drumchapel business for four hours this morning.

A number of calls were made to emergency services around 12.05am on Saturday about a fire at Woody’s Flooring, at 155 Dalsetter Avenue near Duntreath Road.

Initially two appliances from Clydebank attended but they soon requested backup, escalating the incident to “level two”, said the fire service.

Six pumps and a high-reach appliance from Yorkhill, Springburn, Knightswood and Milngavie joined the fit with jets in use to battle the fire from outside the structure.

The fire took about four hours to subdue and firefighters returned around 10am Saturday to inspect the site again to make sure it was completely safe because Glasgow’s building control officers attended to determine the condition of the structure.

There were no reports of any injuries at the commercial premises and an investigation of the cause is underway.

The adjacent building was checked but there were no details of any damage.

Woody’s describe themselves on their Facebook page as: “We are a well established family run business, with over 15 years experience.”
