A MAN who assaulted members of his family and threatened to set fire to their Clydebank home has been told he won’t have to come back to court for any further reviews of his case.

Martin Ross, 25, was placed on a community payback order after pleading guilty to offences at a property in Watchmeal Crescent on December 12 last year.

Ross admitted threatening his mother with violence, repeatedly punching his sister, brandishing a knife at them, cutting the house telephone cable to prevent them summoning help, pushing his mother on the body, threatening to set fire to the house and struggling violently with police.

At his sentencing hearing in January, the court was told the incident arose after a row between Ross and his sister over money said to have been promised to her to pay for a Christmas present.

At that hearing Sheriff William Gallacher called Ross’s behaviour “disgraceful” and said he had considered “the maximum custodial sentence possible”.

But at Thursday’s review, the sheriff said: “You are doing what’s required of you, so I will fix no further review.”
