A DALMUIR man who threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend’s new partner has been placed on supervision.

Robert Logan pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and uttering derogatory and threatening remarks outside a property in Clydebank’s Cornock Crescent on July 17, 2016.

The 28-year-old, of Burns Street, appeared in the dock at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week. Depute fiscal Scott Simpson told the court: “The principal complainer was inside the property at the time. It took place about 1.30am.

“The people inside the house were listening to music and the complainer was made aware that the intercom was ringing.

“The complainer then went to the window and saw the accused below the flats shouting up at her. This involved shouting, swearing and making derogatory remarks – calling her a ‘slut’, a ‘cow’, a ‘tramp’ and a ‘slag’– and threatening violence saying ‘send your man down, I’m going to kill him’.

“The new boyfriend was asleep and was unaware to this threat towards him.”

Logan’s defence agent Brian McGuire told the court his client was voluntarily attempting to enter the Kershaw Unit to deal with an alcohol problem and asked the court to use his sentencing as on opportunity to turn him away from drink and on to the “straight and narrow”.

Mr McGuire said: “He doesn’t have a recollection of that night. No doubt drink had been taken. He’s definitely at a crossroads and he does seem to have realised the situation.”

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry added: “You’re rapidly approaching the point where the court will have explored every available option and will have only one left.

“It’s clear that the alcohol issue is a serious one. We see these issues in this court all too often – it’s like watching a car crash in slow motion.

“I’m going to offer you one last chance to see whether you can regain control of your life.”

Logan was sentenced to a two year supervision order and was told he must maintain within his home between 7pm and 7am for four months.

He was also told he would be required to undergo alcohol counselling and treatment.

He will appear before the court again for a review on April 19.
