Changes to how your road tax is calculated will change on April 1 - so here is a guide to everything you need to know.
The changes won't affect drivers who have vehicles registered before April 1.
All other motorists will be faced with new charges enforced by the DVLA's new Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) tax bands.
The first year of road tax will be calculated based on vehicle emissions.
There after drivers will have to pay based on their type of vehicle:
- £140 a year for petrol or diesel vehicles
- £130 a year for alternative fuel vehicles (hybrids, bioethanol and LPG)
- £0 a year for vehicles with zero CO2 emissions
You will also be unable to make a six month payment in your first year.
