THE live music scene in Clydebank will be given a boost with an upcoming charity show – and that’s just how its Bankie organiser likes it.

Veteran fundraiser Mark Barrow has been working hard to raise cash for charities for years but decided 2017 would be the year to combine his passion with his love for the town he calls home.

An annual music event to generate vital cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust has been moved from its original Anniesland venue to Clydebank Town Hall in a bid to showcase all the area has to offer for live music lovers and it has already attracted a global audience.

Mark said: “It’s something I really wanted to do was bring it back to Clydebank and showcase it for the Clydebank area.

“I wanted to bring my two loves together which is the raising of the money but also the live music.

“We’ve sold tickets to Holland, to England, to all over the place. People are travelling for this event.

“It’s bringing a huge amount of people to Clydebank who normally wouldn’t come to Clydebank which is great in my opinion.”

Part of the line up for Titan Night of Music include Scottish superstars Big Country and Altered Sky and singer/songwriter Chris Ashton. An after-show party will be also held upstairs in John Browns with wristband entry.

A Clydebank-based artist taking part is still to be announced and more surprises are in store.

Mark added: “This is not my job. This is not what I do. I’ve got no motivation other than putting on a great night for the guest, VIPs and acts and that’s what I plan to do.

“Clydebank does have a lice music scene but it’s maybe not processional acts. The Town Hall is an absolutely stunning venue and, in my opinion should be used for a lot more music events.

“It the night goes well, it will be easy to do the same again next year and hopefully showcase what Clydebank does really well.”

Mark is hopeful he will be able to provide at least £2,000 in funding for the charity once ticket sales are complete, given how popular they have been around the world.

Tickets to the event cost £25 and doors will open at around 7pm on Friday, March 31.
