A FAIFLEY woman who placed two children at risk by drinking alcohol while looking after them has been told to keep her nose clean and to keep working with the agencies trying to help her.

Laura MacDonald, 30, appeared before Sheriff William Gallacher for sentencing on January 12 after pleading guilty to exposing the two children to unnecessary suffering or injury to health on October 31, 2015.

MacDonald had admitted being intoxicated at the time of the offence and repeatedly shouting and swearing at one of the children within a common close.

She also admitted shouting, swearing and acting aggressively towards police on the same day.

A background report from social workers was requested on MacDonald’s previous court appearance.

Sheriff William Gallacher told her: “The report seems to cover quite a lot. There is a recommendation that I defer sentence, but you have to grasp that it means real engagement.

“What happened here was unacceptable.

“I’m content that other things are in place and that lots of people are involved with you.

“I’m going to defer sentence so you can continue to do that and that you can bring yourself back up from far below ground level and do things properly.” he added.

MacDonald was told to return to Dumbarton Sheriff Court on May 18.
