THE mother of murdered teenager Paige Doherty has put out another plea for judges to reject the appeal of her daughter’s killer.

Pamela Munro took to the group Facebook page Justice For Paige to graphically detail the harrowing injuries her 15-year-old daughter suffered at the hands of John Leathem – who was sentenced to a minimum of 27 years in jail.

The 33-year-old, who has three other children, told her 12,000 followers she needed the public to know how “barbaric this killing was”.

She said: “I sit and wait for that phone call to let us know if his sentence will be lowered. They said they had other cases to consider in the process of deciding which I think is totally unfair as each case is individual.

“I pray that the justice system of Scotland doesn’t allow this man to have any sentence lowered whatsoever.

“Our little girl suffered the most horrific death I could imagine. She fought and was alive for a good part of her killing but was trapped and no way out with no help for her at all. She wasn’t even six stone against a man.”

The family is waiting to hear the result of a December hearing, in which Leathem’s lawyer described his sentence as "excessive".

Mrs Munro expressed her anger at the former Delicious Deli owner being "protected" at a prison in Dumfries while she and her family live their lives in fear.

She added: “This ‘man’ is now being protected to the highest level in HMP Dumfries. A prison were you can invite your family in to cook them a meal, get a personal trainer, access to a skills centre possibly gaining a degree, a parenting system for dads to rebuild relationships with their kids.

“Apparently this is his ‘human rights’. Where was Paige’s human rights when he overpowered her not only in strength but with weapons?

"Where are her brothers’ and sister’s human rights when they have to fear going anywhere in case something like what happened to their sister happens to them?

"Where are our human rights as parents where we live everyday wondering if the person we are talking to is going to take another one of our children?

"We will live our lives in fear and worry because of his actions.”
