THE new bridge from Clydebank and Yoker to Renfrew has been given the green light for funding.

Glasgow City Region Cabinet approved the £90.7 million infrastructure project as part of a package that includes the new airport rail link to the city and a new bridge across the Cart river.

All three plans are being led by Renfrewshire Council with a scoping study recently revealed as looking at the bridge connecting to Dock Street in Clydebank.

Renfrewshire Council leader Mark Macmillan, the Glasgow City Region Cabinet Lead for Enterprise, said: “These major infrastructure projects are absolutely crucial for our local and regional economies.

“They are designed to unlock our economic potential by creating a world class business and commercial location with excellent links across the Clyde and into our town and city centres, attracting inward investment and creating jobs for local people.

“It will open up our area to tourism and business, bringing huge benefits both to local communities and across our city region.”

He added: “Having unparalleled connectivity by land, sea and air will establish our area as a hugely attractive place to do business.

“With the formal approval of the Glasgow City Region Cabinet we have taken another step towards delivering these vital infrastructure improvements and securing long-term, sustainable economic growth.”
