HUNDREDS turned out to light up the Whitecrook night sky in honour of their loved ones who have died ahead of Christmas.

Attendees and staff St Margaret of Scotland Hospice took time on Sunday from 6.30pm to remember those who won’t be at the dinner table this year with poems, prayers and hymns.

Each person paid a donation to sponsor a light on the Christmas tree – which will remain lit outside the hospice’s East Barnes Street home until January 6 – as well as light a candle and receive a Christmas card with the name of their loved one.

All donations will go towards helping the hospice look after those in their care.

The event was declared a success and is hoped to bring some comfort to those without their beloveds.
