BANKIES are being urged to watch out for energy scams as the weather turns colder.
West Dunbartonshire Trading Standards and Citizens Advice have asked residents to think about who they are paying and to never pay over the phone.
The group, who took to Facebook to share their message, said: “Been contacted directly by telephone about energy efficiency measures and keen to proceed? Think about who you are paying.
“Never pay the lead generator for an energy efficiency assessment over the telephone.
“Only pay the authorised participant if you are happy with the initial assessment.
“Remember don’t be rushed into making a decision.
“To complain about an organisation offering energy efficiency measures contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454040506.”
