A MAN who violently stamped on someone’s head in Dalmuir has avoided a jail sentence.
David Blair, 35, had previously pleaded guilty to assaulting the man in Overtoun Court on November 1 last year, uttering threats of violence towards him, pursuing him, seizing hold of him by the body, throwing him to the floor, striking his head on the floor, repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and repeatedly stamping on his head, all to his injury.
At his sentencing last week at Dumbarton Sheriff Court, Blair’s defence solicitor said Blair had been told minutes before his attack that his wife had been assaulted half an hour earlier and his response was because of that.
Sheriff William Gallacher told Blair, listed in court papers as living in The Auld Road, Cumbernauld, that he could give something back to the community.
He said: “What you did, even if it was affected by the background with you and your wife, it’s never acceptable to cause someone this kind of injury.
“I think it’s beneficial to you and to the rest of us that you are under supervision.”
Blair was sentenced to one year supervision with 100 hours of unpaid work in the community to be completed within six months.
