WE followed her down the yellow brick road, we met her in St Louis and as soon as she graced our screens there was no doubt a star was born.

The world's love affair with the late Judy Garland has spanned more than 85 years and, after her death at just 47-years-old in 1969, there has been a void felt by many that simply no on can fill.

But now Bankies everywhere will have a chance to go Beyond the Rainbow – a show detailing the complicated life of the Wizard of Oz beauty – and experience the megastar’s greatest hits.

Following a UK tour, the show will land in Clydebank Town Hall on Thursday, October 20, with doors opening at 7.30pm.

Writer and director of the show, which has already received a 5-star review, Isobel Barrett says it’s an event any Judy fan simply cannot afford to miss – unless their house is carried off to land on a witch, of course.

She said: “It actually starts off when she’s coming out to perform in one of the big concert halls.

“It then goes forward and it flashes back and forth.

“It’s a great night for any Judy fan and that’s what it’s for, to remember Judy Garland, but who wouldn’t remember her?”

The leading lady taking on the role of the iconic starlet graduate of The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Noreen Boyle.

While most actresses may shake at the thought of filling those enormous ruby slippers, Isobel says, Noreen slips right into the role and provides an incredible performance of the complex character – not least her difficult journey to stardom.

The former child star’s life was cut short by an overdose in what was the end of a very public drug use, which was forced upon her by the massive production companies which used drugs to manipulate Judy’s weight and sleeping schedule during filming.

And the ups and downs of her tragic life will be documented throughout the show, with tickets costing £10.

Isobel added: “Lots of people have their own memories of her even today. I think she was well loved.

“She seems to be like all those stars who are just too talented to stay around - they never seem to get into their 80s or 90s.

“So this is a chance to relive that talent, that even after this amount of time, people still really love.”
