CLYDEBANK Girlguiding Scotland members showed off their pride in guiding at Glasgow's Pride Festival.

Volunteers from across Scotland braved the rain to represent the organisation in the parade through Glasgow City Centre, cheered on by members of the public.

As well as turning out in force for the parade, Girlguiding Scotland members met with members of the public at the Pride Community Expo where they joined community and voluntary organisations from across Scotland.

Visitors to the Community Expo received their own special-edition ‘Girls can be proud’ temporary tattoos and had the chance to learn more about how Girlguiding Scotland offers a safe-space for all girls and young women aged 5 to 25-years-old to grow in confidence, enjoy new experiences, and have fun.

Katie Young, a member of the 12th Clydebank Senior Section, was among those helping at the event.

The 18-year-old said: “I volunteered at Pride because I am proud to be part of an organisation that offers all girls and young women a space where they can try new things, gain new skills, grow in confidence and most of all have fun.

“It felt fantastic to walk in the parade with our bright pink ‘Girls can be proud’ T-shirts and show everyone what Girlguiding Scotland is for all girls.”

Girlguiding Scotland was able to attend the event thanks to funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery – which supports charities and good causes across Great Britain and globally - and comes just as Girlguiding across the UK has received a further £25,000 boost.
