OVER the years Clydebank has been home to numerous world famous sites, such as the Titan Crane, the Singers clock and the La Scala.

But now it can add one more title to its belt as it's now the home of world champion dance studio April's Street Feet.

Bankie dancers smashed through the global competition to take home not one, but two world championships as well as nabbing countless other top spots.

Beating out the likes of Germany, Ireland and America before the opening ceremony had even taken place, the studio was also awarded the prestigious honour of following in the footsteps of fellow Scot Andy Murray at the Rio Olympics by carrying the Scottish flag for the ceremony.

She added: "I still can't quite believe it, I'm actually still in shock" shell-shocked owner, April Stuart MacRae, told the Post.

"In these kind of competitions you have got to go in expecting nothing and I wasn't just saying that to try and down play it – the competition at these places is insane.

"People kept telling me how good my girls were and I thought 'they are but so are all of these other countries' - I never thought we'd get this far.

"It was amazing to see the amount of countries there."

On Friday, the under 10s quad group – featuring 6-year-old Mylie, 9-year-old Keelay, Ebony, and Erin, both 10 – became the reigning world champions and secured their chances of flying the flag.

And the undefeated Mylie didn't stop there as just one day later she went on to nab her own solo championship in the under eight division much to her surprise.

The tots duo narrowly missed out on the top spot but came in an impressive second and many of the other dancers also made it through to finals across a range of categories eventually coming out with top five spots.

Winning is nothing new to this talented bunch but even the typically unflappable dancers of the Clydebank based studio have been shocked by just how well the competition went given the steep competition, which proved no match for them in the end.

April, 23, added: "Usually dance competitions are split into categories like beginner or intermediate but the world's aren't so my kids went up against advanced dancers - and some of my dancers are beginner dancers - and they won.

"With Mylie, to think a year ago that wee girl used to cry her eyes out I used to bribe her to go on the floor because she wouldn’t do it and to be where she is now, a world champion, it's incredible.

"I can't believe wee April from Clydebank's studio has won a world championship."
