POLICE have launched an appeal to find a missing East End woman who made a mysterious journey to Clydebank.

Edwina O'Farrell vanished after she left her daughter in Glasgow city centre and made her to Charing Cross train station on Thursday, August 18 at around 3.50pm.

The 60-year-old, from Pendeen Place in Barlanark, then travelled to Dalmuir, however, the reason why she made her way to to the area is still unclear.

Since then she has not been in contact with family or friends and there is concern for her welfare.

Edwina is white, 5ft tall, medium to heavy build and has black hair worn in a ponytail.

She is believed to have been picked up by CCTV heading south on Duntocher Road towards Dumbarton Road at around 4.50pm.

She was last seen wearing a white shirt, black trousers, carrying a grey cardigan, black shoes and carrying a black purse.

Inspector Jeff Harper, from Shettleston Police Office, said: "Edwina was in Glasgow City Centre yesterday afternoon with her daughter, however, around 3.50pm she made her way alone to Charing Cross train station where she travelled to Dalmuir, Clydebank arriving at 4.50pm.

“Why she went there has still to be established but the main concern is that she has not been in touch with her family or friends since then and that’s not like her at all.

“I would ask anyone who believes they know where Edwina is, or who may have any information that will assist police in tracing her, contact police immediately via 101.

“I would also ask Edwina to get in touch with her family, friends or with us and let us know she is safe."
