POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was indecently assaulted in Alexandria in the early hours of yesterday morning.
At around 12.10am on the morning, a 49-year-old woman was walking her dog along a path adjacent to the River Leven in Alexandria near to the junction with Suzanna Street and Munro Street when a man grabbed her from behind, pushed her to the ground and indecently assaulted her.
The man then ran off leaving the woman injured on the ground.
She was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and treated for minor injuries before being released.
An investigation is currently underway.
Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton at Clydebank CID said: “This was a very traumatic experience for the woman which has left her with both mental and physical injuries.
“Our enquiries have revealed that there were a group of teenagers, both male and female nearby who may have witnessed the attack or may have seen the suspect hanging about the area either before or after it took place.
“This pathway is used by many dog walkers and I appeal to any of them who have information to contact police immediately."
Anyone with information should contact CID at Clydebank via 101. Alternatively calls can be made to CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
