CLYDEBANK primary school teachers will be seeing double today as six sets of tiny twins enter the classroom for the first time.

The twelve little ones will grab their backpacks and put on their uniforms as they enter their P1 classes across the town.

Four-year-olds mini royals, Harry and Pippa Wong, will be welcomed to Clydemuir Primary School in Dalmuir, Mia and Sofia Bayne, also four, will be heading to Edinbarnet Primary in Faifley, while Caleb and Logan Gallagher, five, are bound for Gavinburn Primary School in Old Kilpatrick

And Lewis and Liam Mack, four, are set to start at Goldenhill Primary in Hardgate, Layla and Lucas Craig, also four, will join Dalmuir’s Our Lady of Loretto Primary, and five-year-olds Holly and Summer Mailey will start at St Joseph’s Primary in Faifley.

Hardgate resident Tracey Mack, mum to Liam and Lewis, said her boys are excited for their first day.

She said: “We only live across the road from the school and because of that they have got a really good connection with it already.

"They are really excited about starting – the smallest is asking if he can walk on his own already.”

“My sister has triplets aged six months and they live in Clydebank as well, so we’ll have all this again in a few years!”

The tots are among 14 sets of twins who will be kicking off their school careers across West Dunbartonshire today - marking the highest number of twins starting school in the region for eight years.

They will include Emily and Logan Spence, aged four, who will attend Dalreoch Primary in Dumbarton; five-year-olds Mateusz and Michal Struzik, who will be welcomed to Renton Primary; Myah and Niall Alcorn, also five, who will start at St Peter’s Primary in Dumbarton; and Anna and Eilidh Campbell, aged five, and Alyssa and Steven Farrow, four, who will all start school at Braehead Primary in Dumbarton.

Councillor Michelle McGinty, the council’s convener of educational services, said: “As a council we are committed to improving life chances for children and young people, and providing a high quality education for all our pupils is key to achieving that.

"It is fantastic that so many children are looking forward to starting school and I want to wish all our students, especially our new P1 pupils, the best of luck for their first day.”
