A DALMUIR man has confessed to having more than 1,700 images of children in his home.

David McQueen was found to have a hard drive and two usb drives with images, including more than a dozen of the most severe.

The 53-year-old had collected images for more than four years and had them stashed in his home when police raided the property.

Officers attended around 9.45pm on January 22 this year and found a box in a cupboard in the hallway with a hard drive and two usb sticks in the living room, all with images of children.

Police analysis found there were 1,772 still images in total. The hard drive included 16 images at the most serious level, category A, 28 at category B and 1,133 at category C. There were another 595 images at the category C level on the usb sticks.

McQueen pleaded guilty at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week to possession of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children between September 28, 2011 and January 21, 2016.

The court heard that the photos were predominantly of boys aged between six and 14.

Sheriff William Gallacher had McQueen's name added to the sex offenders registry but continued his bail until sentencing on September 6. He called for a social work report and risk assessment to consider the appropriate punishment.
