A MAN has been linked to 40 alleged thefts in Old Kilpatrick and Clydebank over a period of two months.

Police carried out an operation on Thursday following public appeals for information into the "significant" number of thefts between May 6 and June 29.

The 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with nine crimes and will be reported to the procurator fiscal for a further 31 alleged incidents.

A 33-year-old woman has also been arrested in connection with eight alleged thefts.

Inspector David Quinn of the Community Policing Team at Clydebank said: “We are committed to cracking down on crime in the local community and I would urge anyone who notices any suspicious activity or who has information on crimes to contact their local office.

“I would also like to remind the public to always ensure that their windows and doors are locked when they leave the house and always keep valuables out of sight."
