BANKIES are being invited to contribute to this year’s annual butterfly count.
The project encourages residents to look out for and record 18 species of common butterflies and two day-flying moths over three weeks.

The Big Butterfly Count is the world’s largest and butterfly-conservation.org/ScotlandCount has details.

Butterfly Conservation President Sir David Attenborough said: “During my lifetime I have seen first-hand how the UK’s once plentiful butterflies have dwindled and diminished, with some species even becoming extinct.

“It is vitally important that we gain a clearer picture of how our butterflies are faring.”

The count runs from July 15 to August 7. And if you catch a great photo of one, remember to send it to editorial@clydebankpost.co.uk for our Pic of the Week.
