CLYDEBANK'S blood donors are needed to turn out in force today to help save lives.
The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) says their stocks of O Negative blood are lower than needed and hope to welcome those Bankies and others to the Play Drome this afternoon.
A spokeswoman for the service said: "O Negative is the only blood group that can be given to almost anyone in an emergency, but only 9 per cent of the population have this vital blood group.
"If you are O Negative please make a special effort to donate at Clydebank on Wednesday, June 22."
The SNBTS will be at the Play Drome from 4pm to 7.30pm. To see current blood stock levels across Scotland visit www.scotblood.co.uk
Scotland marked World Blood Donor Day last week and the importance of the life-saving treatment. The service needs 5,000 blood donors every week to meet needs but only 4 per cent of the population are active blood donors.
