THE titles "Destinations" and "Bat Boy" might not sound related but they share something in common: some of the top dancers and performers about to take on the world.

The Dance School of Scotland at Knightswood Secondary is holding its annual showcases of their dance and musical theatre pupils in the coming weeks.

Stars include Beth Robb Adams, recently named Young Scottish Musical Theatre Performer of 2016, who is in the musical Bat Boy. Four dance students were chosen for Scottish Ballet's youth exchange programme, which saw them travel to Singapore this year.

And all the graduating students have gained places in the UK's top dance, acting and musical theatre schools.

With 65 dancers in Destinations and 30 in Bat Boy, there are a great many future stars on show.

Administrator and stage manager at the school, Jo Di Lieto, explained: "'Destinations' takes its inspiration from countries around the world that our graduates have worked in.

"Encompassing a wide variety of dance styles, including ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary and street, the students have been working flat out with some juggling rehearsals and their National and Standard exams."

"'Bat Boy' is a funny, poignant cult hit show that tells the story of a 'creature' found living in a cave near Hope Falls, West Virginia and how his discovery and integration affects the local vet, his family and the many and varied characters of the town."

The Dance School of Scotland is the country's only fully-funded such institution for vocational dance and musical theatre. They get specialist training as well as their normal schooling at Knightswood. Former pupils are now with companies such as Scottish Ballet, The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, Vienna State and Royal Swedish Ballet. Others are performing in West End and Broadway productions such as Chicago, Matilda, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia, and Shrek.

'Destinations' is at the Theatre Royal on Friday, June 17 at 1.30pm and 7.30pm, and Saturday, June 18, at 2pm and 7.30pm.

'Bat Boy: The Musical' will be on at Citizen's Theatre on Wednesday, June 15 at 7.30pm, June 16 at 1.30pm and 7.30pm, June 17 at 7.30pm and June 18 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets are still available to all shows.
