A CLYDEBANK man must wait before learning his fate after admitting breaching his bail conditions.

Ryan O’Neil, 22, of Garscadden View appeared from custody at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Thursday to answer to the charge.

Sentence was deferred after O’Neil was found to have breached his bail conditions on April 24 this year in Kirkoswald Drive, Clydebank – having been granted bail by Dumbarton Sheriff Court on October 19 last year.

The court was told how O’Neil had had a “promising future” when at school, but goes “off the rails” when consuming alcohol and drugs.

O’Neil’s defence solicitor told the court how O’Neil’s mother, a stroke victim, lived in the family home with his 10-year-old sister and that his client was concerned over what would happen if he received a custodial sentence.

But Sheriff William Gallacher said: “His priority is in himself. This is a short record, but he disregards what he’s supposed to do and I’ve seen him far too many times.

“He has at least two breaches of curfew.”

The defence solicitor said: “He is asking you to give him one more chance.

“Today he appears to be a different individual, there’s no arrogance.

“I appreciate it’s difficult to give him another chance because if he puts a foot wrong, he will get a higher sentence.”

Addressing O’Neil, Sheriff Gallacher said: “My patience is at an end.

“You are no longer a young boy appearing before me.”

The case will recall on June 14 for a background report and for other matters to call.

O’Neil was granted bail.
