A NEW political party aimed at representing communities in West Dunbartonshire has been born.
West Dunbartonshire Community Party is set to launch a challenge to council seats at the 2017 local elections.
It is not yet known who is behind the new grouping for it has yet to be registered with the Electoral Commission.
The party will host a launch event in the near future to introduce the main players and its policies.
On Facebook, the party states: "WDCP is a party of community activists who have come together to try to better represent the needs & aspirations of the people of West Dunbartonshire."
Another statement said: "We intend to more accurately represent the communities needs and aspirations not toe a party line."
Later, in the same thread, when questioned about who runs the party, WDCP posted: "Party is awaiting verification from the electoral commission, as and when this is given all details will be published.
"All relevant paperwork sent and meets required standards, it just seems that it takes approx five weeks to get everything finalised.
"We wont have a leader rather a chair, vice chair, treasurer, nominating officer and spokespeople!"
