A CARE company has contacted a community council to canvas its view on units it wants to build.

Dalmuir and Mountblow Community Council chairman Craig Edward, revealed he had been contacted by CrossReach.

At a meeting on Thursday, March 3, he told how the care company is looking to build a development near to Kilpatrick High School.

The chairman invited CrossReach to come and speak with the community council at the next meeting on April 7, so members can find out more.

The entrance to the site would be in Dalmuir and Mountblow, on Mountblow Road but the actual building would take place in the adjacent community council, Parkhall, North Kilbowie and Central.

Councillor Kath Ryall told how CrossReach applied to build in the area two years ago.

However, the plans were rejected on the grounds that a development would not provide anything for the people of West Dunbartonshire.

It is understood the care units being built would be for people from outside the area.

Mr Edward highlighted any job boost would be welcomed but he was met with resistance from secretary Liz Gill.

Ms Gill said it does not service people in the area, and she added that it should not be allowed, citing the region’s own people in need of quality professional care.

However, community councillors expressed that they would like to know more.

Members welcomed the proposal for CrossReach to come to their next meeting.
