A DRUMRY man who has twice been banned for life from driving has failed to get his licence back.

James Pert, of York Street, had made an application to have his ban lifted so that he could gain hotel employment that would include driving duties.

The 41-year-old received a life ban for the second time following a road traffic incident in November 2009.

On that date he was in charge of a vehicle in Clydebank's Swindon Street when police officers suspected he had consumed alcohol and was over the legal drink drive limit.

He twice failed to take a breath test and provide officers with a specimen. He was also driving while disqualified and had no insurance.

Pert was also sent to prison for more than 11 months for the offence in 2009, but he appeared back in Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week in an attempt to have his ban scrapped.

Refusing the application, Sheriff Craig Turnbull said: "You have managed to be disqualified for life twice and I am not satisfied that at this time it is appropriate to grant this application."

The application was refused.
