A CLYDEBANK man has been waiting for more than a month for repairs to his home and garden to stop flooding.

Andrew Holland said his garden turns into a “swimming pool” when it rains, flooding his front path, due to drainage problems.

And after a piece of pipe fell off, which connects the gutter with a drainpipe, his back door is now also plagued by excess water.

Mr Holland, 54, has suffered a stroke and said with his health difficulties and the flooding problems mean he can have difficulty leaving his house at Low Crescent, Whitecrook.

He said: “The front garden is like a swimming pool and the back garden is the same.

"Sometimes you open the front door and it’s up to the bottom of the door.

"You open the door and you need wellies to go out, it’s that bad.

“At the back a bit of pipe has fallen off where it connects to the gutter. It means the back door is always soaking.

"All you can hear is drip, drip, drip when it’s raining. I’m worried I’m going to end up with damp in the house if it gets in the walls.

"It’s only a bit of pipe and I’ve got it in the house.

"I can’t get up a ladder to fix it.”

He called the council before Christmas to complain and an inspector came out but Mr Holland said nothing has been done since then.

He added: “They said they would fix it and that we would get a new path but nothing’s happened. I’m fed up with it.

"I feel like they are not bothered.”

A West Dunbartonshire Council spokeswoman said: “We’re sorry to hear Mr Holland is unhappy and are pleased to confirm that the guttering will be repaired this week. We also have plans to renew the path and this will be completed as soon as the weather allows.”
