The twin brother of a Clydebank man who has been missing for more than two weeks made a heartfelt appeal this morning for him to get in touch.

Stuart Clark, 59, was last seen near Dalmuir train station around 12.25pm on Sunday, January 17.

His family is extremely worried and his twin brother Iain made a public appeal at Clydebank Police Station.

He said: “I am now obviously very worried about my twin brother Stuart who we haven’t seen or heard from in two weeks. He regularly visits our house and comes to dinner and spends the afternoons with us. He is very sociable and is reasonably well known in the Dalmuir area after having lived there for six years.

“I have been in touch with all our family, the extended family, friends and work colleagues to see if they’ve heard from him and I can assure you that everyone is very worried about him. As I just want to know that Stuart is safe I would ask that he calls anybody at all to let them know he is safe.”

Inspector David Quinn is leading a dedicated team of officers searching for the missing man and appealed for an acquaintance of Stuart's who is in his early 20s to get in touch.

Insp Quinn told the special press conference: “We’ve carried out numerous enquiries in the local area including door to door enquiries, a check of closed circuit television cameras and a stop and speak operation.

"On Sunday we spoke to over 350 members of the local community and from that we’ve have some useful bits of information. He has been known to be seen in the local area on numerous occasions with a male who is described to be in his early twenties.

"We appeal at this time if you are this person or know who that person is, if you could come forward with any information you have regarding Stuart’s whereabouts.”

When he was last seen Stuart was wearing a knee length tweed coat, a beige and fawn coloured cardigan and light blue denims with a grey and black backpack.

There has also been an unconfirmed sighting of Stuart near to the Mackintosh Bar on the corner of Swindon Street and Dumbarton Road, Dalmuir on Monday, January 18 around 2pm.

Stuart is described as white, 6 ft 2in tall and of medium build with red hair and a beard. He also wears glasses and has a distinctive stilted walk.

He has been reported missing before and has previously been found in Mallaig and Old Kilpatrick and there is a possibility that he has travelled out of the Clydebank area.

If anyone has seen Stuart since Sunday, January 17 or knows of his whereabouts, call police on 101.
