Rubbish was set ablaze inside a block of flats in Drumry at the weekend in what police believe was a deliberate attack.
Firefighters were called to extinguish the blaze at 12 Kirkoswald Drive on Sunday at around 5.40pm.
The rubbish set alight was at the back of the close and firefighters had to use breathing apparatus to help them battle the smoke as they put out the flames.
No one was injured during the incident.
Police are treating it as wilful fireraising and urge anyone with information to contact Clydebank Police Office on 101.
