A CHINOOK helicopter was circling Dalmuir this afternoon — sparking the curiosity amongst members of the public.

The noisy aircraft visited water front, Dalmuir and headed over Parkhall before flying in the direction of Glasgow.

All eyes were on the sky as curious workers and members of the public gazed up to see the very loud chopper.

Reader Doug Clark from Mountblow captured a picture of the aircraft.

Readers told the Post the aircraft was reportedly seen repeatedly attempting to land at the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank but a spokeswoman for the hospital said the aircraft did not land there.

It is understood the helicopter went to Glasgow Airport and then to a hospital in Edinburgh.

An RAF spokeswoman refused to disclose what the helicopter was doing in Clydebank.

No RAF Chinooks are based in Scotland but the spokeswoman said the are sent around the country as required.
