A MAN involved in a racist outburst in Clydebank Police Station has been jailed.

Samual Townsley previously pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause someone fear and alarm by uttering the remarks on September 5 this year.

In a separate matter, the 26-year-old also admitted breaching a community payback order and appeared for sentencing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week.

Karen Nicol, fiscal depute, told the court Townsley became agitated while he was in Clydebank Police Station for a separate matter.

He was trying to tell the duty sergeant the name of his mental health practitioner but began shouting and swearing, using words like “P**i” while referring to him.

Mr Divine, defending, told the court his client was “utterly realistic” about the likelihood of a jail term.

Sheriff William Gallacher told Townsley: “Your behaviour was unacceptable and inappropriate and you have disregarded bail, which you routinely do.” Townsley, of Cranloch Court, Haldane, was sentenced to seven months in prison, backdated to October 12.
