A NEW intimate city festival will be staged at Glasgow Green this spring.

May West will feature sets from the likes of The Stranglers, Public Service Broadcasting, Ward Thomas, Turin Brakes, Dreadzone, Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire, and Glasgow Gospel Choir.

There will also be mouthwatering meals on the menu courtesy of The Kelbourne Saint, The Crafty Pig, West On The Green and other foodie friends.

In addition, comedy, theatre and opera will be served up too.

The fest, presented by Beyond Events and WEST Brewery, hopes to attract up to 3,000 people.

Robert Hicks, co-founder of May West, said: "It’s been a long time dream to bring an event to Glasgow Green, and what better way to do it than in partnership with the wonderful people at West Brewery.

"We’re aiming to create a new, affordable fixture on Glasgow’s calendar where everyone can join together to celebrate great music and entertainment; as well as an eye and mouth watering offering of food and drink from around the country.”

Petra Wetzel, founder of WEST Brewery and co-founder of the festival, added: "When I was a student in the 90s, Mayfest in Glasgow was a highlight of my year, but sadly it always happened when I was studying so I missed lots of the fun.

"In 2017, WEST has team up with Beyond to celebrate all that is good about music, food and of course of our great beers. May West is an homage to those Mayfest days, a celebration of Glasgow Green and the opportunity to enjoy a really happy weekend.

"Like with all our WEST venues, families are most welcome so do come join us and listen to some amazing bands with your children, grannies and friends.”
