Save our Green Belt

Auchentoshan Woods is under threat — again. Dalmuir Park under threat — again. The golf course is under threat — again. Why?

West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) Planning Officers want to remove the Green Belt status on these treasured assets.

This is the first step towards the beautiful open spaces becoming a future target of property speculators.

The people of Clydebank must resist any proposed detrimental changes to the current West Dunbartonshire Local Plan.

Their protected Green Belt status must remain.

The finalised draft of the West Dunbartonshire Local Plan is now out for public consultation and any recommendations and objections to the classification of land within Clydebank proposed by the WDC Planning Officers have to be submitted to the council offices by 4pm on the November 16 at the very latest.

A copy of the Local Plan can be inspected at the council offices, or downloaded from the WDC web site. A map is also available at the main library.

It is time for action — again. Parkhall, North Kilbowie and Central Community Council is holding a public open meeting at the Dalmuir CE Centre on Monday November 5 starting at 7.30pm. Please make the effort. Come along and help us stop any further erosion of the Green Belt.

Can we do it? Yes, we can — but only with your help.

Neil Etherington, community councillor, Parkhall, North Kilbowie and Central Community Council
