P and D League Cup Final Harmony Row 15s .. 1 Clydebank Boys FC .. 4

BRILLIANT Clydebank Boys FC clinched the P and D League Cup on Saturday after trouncing rivals Harmony Row.

This was a big game for the young Bankies — and they were well and truly up for it.

The game started at a frantic pace and it was Clydebank who had the first real chance in the 10th minute.

The ball fell kindly to Craig McHutcheon on the edge of the Harmony box, but the midfielder couldn’t keep the effort down and it sailed over the bar.

The Glasgow side had a near miss two minutes later, but again the ball stayed out, before a low Clydebank free-kick from Scott McAllister was neatly collected by an on-form Harmony keeper.

Clydebank keeper Danny Campbell was on form too, but a corner in the 25th minute had him well beaten and Harmony Row found themselves 1-0 up.

Clydebank then seemed to step up a gear and Adam Mullen was unlucky to see his shot deflected over after good work from Davy Crerand, before Derek McNab headed over moments later.

Crerand was again unlucky for Clydebank with one minute of the half remaining, with his shot coming off the bar and the rebound headed over by Gary White.

Clydebank got the equaliser they craved moments after the restart , with Crerand heading in from a long Martin McNiff throw.

Harmony came back with a lovely daisy cutter from 20-yards, but Campbell was on hand and well placed to collect and start a new Bankies attack.

In the 52nd minute another low free-kick from Crerand was well saved, and Jason Wilson was unlucky after a good run with his shot deflected just past two minutes later.

He was thwarted again 60 seconds later after a corner, with the end shot going just past as Clydebank strove to get ahead.

Clydebank found themselves ahead in the 61st minute after a fierce Crerand shot hit the post, only for the rebound to fall to Wilson, who slammed it into the net.

Harmony had another shot saved within 60 seconds in end-to-end action, but Clydebank’s Adam Millen had other scoring ideas.

As his team raced up the pitch he collected the ball on the right wing and — with the referee playing good advantage after he was fouled — he curled in a beautiful long shot which left the keeper no chance.

Fraser Urqhuart had a good chance with seven minutes left, but the ball hit a Clydebank hand and the chance was lost.

Campbell was in the action with four minutes left and again made a good save, before Matt Moore cancelled out any hope of a Harmony fightback in the final minute with a great shot from five yards.

This was an end-to-end thrilling match, and both sides deserve credit for a thoroughly entertaining end of season League Cup final.

Two days after their League Cup triumph Clydebank were beaten 3-2 by Bellside in the semi-final of the B and G Club’s Federation 15s Cup.

They went ahead in the 15th minute through a great Scott McAllister strike, before Bellside equalised a minute later.

A 53rd minute penalty put Clydebank ahead again, but strikes from Bellside in the 72nd and 85th minutes gave them the win.

Clydebank were also beaten 6-4 by Burnbank 19s in the league, with goals coming from Dean Lang, Archie MacPherson, David Green and Darren Currie.
