Yoker Athletic’s pre-season continued last week as recently installed gaffer John Brogan continued to build a squad he hopes can challenge for promotion.

Having secured the signatures of new arrivals David Kirkwood and Neil Schoneville, he has this week tied up some familiar faces from last season’s squad including captain Scott McKay, vice Captain Scott Cameron, the club’s longest-serving player Lenny Marshall along with Tommy Jordan and Willie McKellar – both of whom arrived at Holm Park late on last season.

It is also anticipated that more players from last season will have been tied up by the time of going to press in the shape of Gary Bissland and keeper Kenny Meechan.

A further addition to the squad is striker Tam Bell who arrives from Super Premier League side Vale of Clyde to provide competition for places in the striking roles.

With three or four of last season’s squad expected to return from holiday in the near future and other new signings imminent, the new man at the helm is beginning to see his squad take a better shape ahead of pre-season.
