Yoker Athletic held its annual Player of the Year evening on Saturday night.

The awards were a recognition for the contribution which the players had made to the team and the club throughout season 2007/2008.

The first trophy of the evening was the Management Player of the Year which was selected by the now departed trio of Les, Jim and Garry George. Defensive stalwart and club captain Scott McKay was the worthy recipient of the award.

The second trophy of the night was the Committee’s Player of the Year award which went to the club’s longest serving player Lenny Marshall.

The final trophy of the evening was the Player’s Player of the Year and it was Scott McKay again who received the recognition from his fellow team mates.

Club president Stephen Frew said a few words afterwards to thank all the players for their contribution throughout the season whilst also giving a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing management team.

He also spoke about the appointment of a new manager and intimated that a final decision will be made in the very near future.

Yoker Athletic are now firmly in preparation for season 2008/2009 and are welcoming sponsorship applications, any interested parties should contact the committee as soon as possible.

As the club enters a transitional period the committee are now welcoming volunteers to help out either through the week or on matchdays.
