GARSCUBE men’s and women’s teams both finished third in the Polaroid Eyewear Clydebank 10k Road Race on Thursday.

Some 26 members took part and the team of Ben Melby, 11th, (33m17s), Stephen Mulrine 30th (35.49) and Rob McLennan 45th (36.42) had a total of 86 points.

The Ladies team managed 65 points, thanks to Ali Winship, 5th, (40m03s), Jill O’Neil, 16th (42.33) and Lynn Fairbairn 44th (47.09)

Other times were: Euan Mackay (36.48), Robert MacFarlane (37.39), Stephen Grant (37.42), Athole Smith (39.47), John Murray (40.58), Dave Dickson (41.21), Frank Krievs (43.38), Chris Kilshaw (44.22), Scott Nicol (44.51), Stevie Cullen (46.19), Jan Horton (47.54), Irene Vezza (49.07), Nicola Sinclair (49.58), Mary Cox (50.51), Lynn Wilson (51.15), Lynette Harkins (51.22), Amanda Vaughan (54.31), Karen Anne Stevenson (58.19), Lynda Newland (1.02.57) and Charlie Kilshaw (1.15.47).

Two Garscube ladies competed in the Point One Calanais Stones Marathon at Stornoway on Saturday May 24.

Maureen MacLeod was fourth lady vet over 40 to complete the race in a time of four hours 10 minutes 20 seconds and Margaret Douglas was sixth lady vet over 40 in 4.27.24.

Garscube lady Katherine Graham was in action in the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday May 25 finishing in 626th place overall and 15th lady vet over 35 in a time of three hours 22 minutes six seconds and on the same day, John Dryden finished in 94th place in a time of 53 minutes 19 seconds in the Mull of Kintyre 10k Road Race at Campbeltown.

Finally, Lindsay Cunningham finished in second place in a time of 17 minutes 10 seconds in the Run for the World 5,000 Metres Road Race at Bellahouston Park on Saturday.

Next up are the Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games 10k Road Race, the Isle of Skye Half Marathon both on Saturday June 14 and the Polaroid Vale of Leven 10k Road Race on Sunday June 15.
