Running report
EIGHTY-six runners comprising of juniors, seniors and parents, took part in the first combined 3K race in the Garscube Estate last Tuesday.
In sunny warm conditions, there was much excitement as the athletes prepared for the event which helps the two sections integrate.
Judging by the atmosphere, this was achieved. The winners were: 1st senior male and overall race winner Ben Melby (9 minutes 55 seconds); 1st Senior Female Mairi Stanley (11m35s, 10th); 1st Junior Male (Marc Austin (10m32s 4th); 1st Junior Female Kirsten Halliday (12m56s, 26th) Full results at: www.garscube

Club Secretary Stuart Irvine said: “It’s the first time in club history that over 80 members took part in a team event.”
Six ladies were in action in the Troon 10k Road Race on the following day. Alison Winship was first home for the club and 3rd lady vet over 35 (40 minutes 51 seconds), Marian Callister was 7th senior lady to finish (43m51s) and Theresa Miln was 11th lady vet over 35 (43m52s).
Other Garscube times were Gillian Davidson (44m52s), Lynn Fairbairn (48m18s) and Ann Clanachan, third lady vet over 65 (50m55s).
Congratulations to young athlete Marc Austin (pictured) who finished second in the Scottish National U14 1.6 miles Hill Race Championships at Rowardennan on Saturday.
On the same day, Lindsay Cunningham finished second and Stephen Mulrine third in the Dick Wedlock Memorial 10k at Lochinch.
At the Penicuik 10k Road Race, three members braved torrential weather: Eileen McKechnie (1hr01m38s), Trish Pryce (1h01m39s) and Lindsay Wilson (1h01m40s). Last Sunday, three runners competed in the Dunfermline City Half Marathon — Ali Winship (1h28m12s), Heather McIntosh (1h37m18s) and Tony Hall (1h48m15s).
Next up are the Loch Leven Half Marathon on Saturday, the Women’s 10k at Bellahouston Park, and the Monkland Half Marathon at Drumpellier Park, Coatbridge both on Sunday.
