ROBBED: Kenny Murray and Alan Prentice last time out against the Port (EO’N)

ANOTHER weekend — another postponement as Yoker’s match at Castle Park against Blantyre Vics fell victim to the heavy rainfall.

In a bid to keep ticking over, squad members based in the area took part in a small sided training match while players based further afield were granted a day off.

This Saturday, the Whe-Ho face Port Glasgow in a Holm Park clash which could go a long way to determining both sides’ hopes of promotion for the campaign.

It is the second meeting of the sides this season after The Port nicked a victory at Ravenscraig Stadium in a match clearly influenced by the match official.

Yoker had dominated and took the lead on the hour mark through top goalscorer David Watt but in a fateful few moments shortly after, all was to turn for the worst.

Firstly, centre-back Brian Smith was stretchered from the field of play with a serious head-knock as a result of a very late challenge from a Port frontman.

Then, his defensive colleague and skipper Scott McKay was harshly dismissed for dissent.

The home side took full advantage of the defensive frailties to win 2-1.

With that defeat still fresh in the mind, Yoker will be looking to haul themselves into the thick of the promotion pack so those in attendance should be served up a cracker.

The Whe-Ho have no injury or suspension worries going into the match and have a full squad to choose from.

The Holm Park clash kicks-off at 2pm on Saturday with free entry to any child accompanied by a paying adult.

Supporters are advised to check www.yokerathletic.com for updates should there be any doubts as a result of adverse weather conditions.
