Duncan op nightmare
BANKIES starlet Jimmy Duncan will need surgery on his knee after a specialist discovered cruciate damage.
Duncan, who signed for his home town in the summer from Duntocher U21s, has been crocked since September, when he was stretchered off against Kilbirnie in the first home game of the season.
Concerned by his slow recovery, Bankies staff referred Duncan to a specialist who dropped the bombshell.
Bill Leach, who also treated former Celtic striker Henrik Larsson, made the discovery five months after Duncan was told he would not require an operation.
Bankies boss Budgie McGhie said: “The sad news is it looks like he will need major surgery.
“When he went to the hospital after it happened, the people there didn’t think it was cruciate damage but it now seems that diagnosis was wrong.
“So we have wasted five or six months thinking it was nothing serious.”
McGhie asked new Clydebank physio Derek Kelly, to run the rule over the 21-year-old at training.
He added: “He took one look, suspected it was cruciate damage and referred him to the specialist at the Nuffield.
“It is really disappointing but hopefully he will make a full recovery.”
