Rutherglen Glencairn 8 Yoker 4

YOKER opened the scoring in this amazing match when Alan Prentice netted in six minutes.

But two quick goals from Glens — the first when Yoker failed to clear their lines and the second an own goal from Scott Mackay while he was under pressure from the striker.

Meanwhile, Yoker were posing a threat in wide areas and it was from a cut-back that Robert Cuthbert got the equaliser, followed in 29 minutes with another goal.

A fine passing move saw Graham Japp get on the end of a failed Glens clearance, but it then got even better for Yoker three minutes later as Alan Prentice rattled one in from just inside the box to make it 4-2.

With Yoker hoping to consolidate their lead they were then brought back to earth when Glens managed to get on the end of a cross with a good header — a seven-goal first half but no-one in the crowd thought it would stay that way.

Five minutes into the second half Glens again equalised when their centre-forward won an aerial challenge, latched on to the loose ball then lobbed the keeper for 4-4.

It was 5-4 five minutes later when Yoker lost possession in midfield and allowed an unchallenged run into the area, followed by another goal from a cutback.

With Yoker heads going down a penalty was conceded and converted and another slick move down the flank finished the scoring at 8-4 to the Rutherglen side.

The most important part of the game was just the interval when Yoker missed the chance of the match to make it 5-2, then on half-time Glens’ keeper made a great save to deny Yoker going in 5-3 up.

Yoker entertain St Roch`s this Saturday at Holm Park, kick-off 2pm, as they try to get this match out of their system.

The Whe Ho now sit in eighth position, but third on points gained.

St Roch’s, meanwhile, have still to gain a point, having lost their first two matches.
