Rockers bid to take Scotland to the World Cup

PIPING rockers Celtic Spirit are to pipe the Scotland team onto the Hampden turf before the crunch qualifier against Norway on Saturday October 11.

The three-piece group - which is made up of just two drummers and a piper - will belt out their unique piping style at a packed national stadium before the crunch qualifier against Norway on Saturday.

Drummer Jason Prentice told the Post: 'We will be the live act for a minute-and-a-half as the players are running out the tunnel and will actually be before Ronnie Brown sings Flower of Scotland, which is a great honour.

'It"s a case of the wee band from the big city who will be there in front of so many people doing what we do best.

'We want to get everyone on their feet and make it a rousing atmosphere.'

Yoker man Jason, 29, has even revealed that it was the Scottish Football Association (SFA) which chased them to get them to perform.

He said: 'We played at a diabetes fundraiser event earlier in the year and people from the SFA were there.

'They came up to us and gave us their card and asked us to get in touch.

'Most of the time when that happens nothing really comes of it but they pursued us and wanted us to perform before Scotland games.

'The SFA did a poll asking what the supporters would like to see at matches and thousands of people got back saying they wanted pipes with a twist, and I suppose that"s where we come in.'
