WELCOME: Her Majesty entering the Beardmore Hotel

EXCITED Bankie school pupils turned out in their numbers to welcome the Queen to Clydebank.

Her Majesty was in the town to officially open the West of Scotland Regional Heart and Lung centre, which is based at the Golden Jubilee Hospital, in Dalmuir.

Both the Queen and Prince Philip took the time to speak to the youngsters before enjoying a tour round the facility and speaking to the many staff and patients who could not wait to meet them.

Many Bankies spoke of their "pride" and "honour" at being at the momentous day, which will last long in everyone's memories.
