GIG: The MacDonald Brothers prepare for their summer concert with the help of a select audience

The MacDonald Brothers are set to headline the first ever Clydebank Canal Festival this Saturday (July 5).

The musical duo, who reached the X-Factor final stages in front of Simon Cowell and co two years ago, will take to the stage at Three Queens Square.

The brothers are fresh off a sell-out tour with Westlife.

Craig, 21, told the Post: “We love doing these types of shows and it is going to be a belter.

“Hopefully the sun will be out and everyone will have a great time.

“I’d say to everyone, even if it’s not great weather, just come down and enjoy yourselves.”

The pop pair are getting set to tour the Highlands with their new album, and younger brother Brian revealed the Bankie show will be their only time in the west of Scotland until Christmas.

Brian, 20, told the Post: “We won’t be back to Glasgow until Christmas time so we hope to see the fans rocking out and enjoying themselves on Saturday.”

And the pair even hinted that some of their new material could get an airing on the canal-side stage.

Craig said: “We’ll be playing all the old classics and, though we can’t promise anything, there could be a couple of new ones in there too.”

The festival has been organised to coincide with the continued regeneration of Clydebank and a packed day of events is planned.

Hosts Your Radio will kick off proceedings at midday with acts on the bandstand and surrounding area until 4pm.

Jugglers, magicians, trampolines and face painting will line the canal banks while the sea cadets will perform a live kayak demonstration on the water.

On stage acts such as the Nicola Park Musical Theatre Academy, Diamond Dazzlers Cheerleaders and the Real Rhythmz dancers will warm up the crowd for the MacDonald Brothers’ big headline set at 3.15pm.
