THE neighbours of Clydebank’s Big Brother contestant have revealed they knew nothing of his outrageous antics.

Mikey Hughes — who is the controversial reality show’s first ever blind contestant — revealed to the nation that he loves doing stand-up comedy whilst wearing fishnet stockings.

But to his neighbours he appears to live an almost reclusive lifestyle.

In the quiet street in Parkhall where he has settled, residents were clueless about the 33-year-old’s outrageous fetishes.

They said he tended to “keep himself to himself” and they could not believe the shy, quiet lad had decided to go on the reality show.

James Lorimer, 35, who lives next door to Mikey, told the Post: “When I first found out about Michael being in the house I just thought ‘wow’ — I couldn’t believe it.

“You certainly do not expect your next door neighbour to be on a show like Big Brother.

“He is so quiet and generally keeps himself to himself so that makes it even more surprising that he decided to go on the show.

“But I hope he does well and does it for Clydebank — bring on the Bankies.”

Mikey went into the house on Thursday and immediately revealed his kinky fetish to the other housemates.

He said: “I’ve got a massive collection of stockings — all types, colours, you name it.

“I just love wearing them.”

Mikey has appeared in the Post on several occasions and had tried unsuccessfully to get on Big Brother before.

He is a collector of war memorabilia — including Nazi relics — and in 2006 he hit out at new laws which cracked down on the sale of offensive weapons.

He said it would prevent him from carrying out his hobby of buying and selling antique swords on the internet.

He has said of the Nazi items: “I don’t agree with the politics but take away all the murder and you are left with interesting, bold, dramatic designs.” Mikey — who has been tipped by some as a favourite to win — has already fallen out with two of the female housemates after a row over underwear.

Pensioner Bob Walker, 70, who lives opposite Mikey, said: “It’s a bit of a surprise to everyone on the street that he’s on the show because he’s so quiet that you would not even know he was there. I’ve never even heard the boy speak.

“I don’t watch the programme but I’ll certainly tune in to see how he gets on.

“It’s good to get this street on the map because you certainly don’t expect someone from a wee street like this to be on television every night of the week.”
