THE trial of a man charged with alleged sex offences involving two young children was halted last week after the accused was rushed to hospital.

Gordon Huff, 63, did not make it into the court for his case after suffering pains in his chest from his angina, Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday.

Huff is accused of two separate charges of lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards two young girls who were just six-years-old at the time of the incidents.

The first charge relates to an alleged incident in a motor vehicle at Cleddans View, Drumry, or elsewhere, at some point between March 13, 2001, and December 31, 2002, involving a girl who is now 13-years-old.

Details of what Huff is accused of doing to the girl, as detailed on the Crown’s indictment, are too explicit to publish.

Huff is also appearing on a second charge, which details incidents “on a number of occasions” between July 1 and July 24, 2007, at Stuart Avenue, Old Kilpatrick, involving a girl who is now seven-years-old.

Again, details of the indictment are too explicit to publish. Huff denies the charges.

He had appeared for his trial at 10am on Wednesday, but it was adjourned until later that afternoon due to problems in locating a defence witness.

When the court resumed at 2pm it was announced that the accused had fallen ill.

The advocate representing Huff said: “He apparently was almost at the court when he suffered from chest pains due to his angina and got a taxi home.”

Once home, the court heard Huff phoned an ambulance to take him to the hospital, which meant that the jury trial was postponed until the following day.

However, Huff, of Dumbarton, was unable to make it to court on Thursday due to his health, and now the case has been adjourned until later this month.
