Star’s feral brother guilty of two more attacks

VIOLENT: Donald McAvoy
DONALD McAvoy — the feral half brother of movie star James McAvoy — has admitted stabbing a man eight time, just weeks after being convicted of a similar attack.
Donald McAvoy is facing another lengthy jail sentence after stabbing William Clarke, 21, during a street fight, and robbing a 14-year-old boy on a train.
McAvoy, 18 — who is already locked up after being jailed at the end of last year for another knife attack — pled guilty to both incidents at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
The court heard that first victim, Mr Clarke, was returning home after a night out when McAvoy knifed him in the back, chest and legs.
McAvoy, who was with another man, met Mr Clarke as he walked along Sunnyside Drive, Blairdardie, on March 25 2006.
Mark Allan, prosecuting, told the court that a “scuffle” took place between the pair, which ended in Mr Clarke receiving multiple stab wounds.
Mr Allan said: “Mr Clarke describes what felt like punches to his body during this scuffle, before he fell to the ground.
“There was at least one other individual present when this happened.
“That individual said to Mr Clarke, ‘look at the blood’, and it was only then that Mr Clarke looked down to see blood in the lower part of his chest and over his trousers.” McAvoy — who shares the same dad as BAFTA winning actor James — quickly left the scene, but after receiving medical treatment Mr Clarke gave McAvoy’s name to the police.
McAvoy’s lawyer Brian Lannigan claimed that Mr Clarke had placed his hands around his client’s neck just before the attack took place.
In the second incident, just weeks later on April 24, McAvoy and an accomplice brandished a hammer and threatened and robbed a terrified 14-year-old schoolboy who was on his way home from classes.
McAvoy got on the train at Drumchapel station with the unnamed male and threatened the boy with the weapon, stealing his mobile phone, £20 in cash and his school bag.
The pair then jumped off the train just before the doors closed and the train left the station.
The young victim was left traumatised but was able to pick out McAvoy in an ID parade.
Sheriff Charles McFarlane QC deferred sentence until next month for reports.
Just before Christmas McAvoy, of Kinfauns Drive, Drumchapel, was jailed for 30 months for stabbing John McKay outside the Lincoln Inn in Knightswood.
Actor James, a former St Thomas Aquinas pupil, has not spoken to the dad he shares with his criminal sibling, Donald, for many years.
James, 28, was raised by his grandparents.
